I've tried everything for my dandruff and dry scalp and nothing worked until a friend of mine who is an all natural everything women told me to mix 1/2 witch hazel and 1/2 listerine mouth wash together and spray it on my scalp after washing my hair and I tell you, Ive not had any trouble since, it was clearly bacteria that was causing the flakes, but i must tell you that you will have to deep mosterize your hair do to the dryness this will cause but still no flakes...Ive been all natural for 2 years now and loving my hair!

Great article with good information! I would add that there are two types of dandruff: dry (small flakes) and oily (bigger flakes). Hot oil treatments would be helpful in the first case (as with seborrhoic dermatitis, I guess). In the second you would have to kill the dandruff-causing bacteria with an anti-dandruff product containing zinc, sulfur etc. Alternatively you could try regular ACV rinses.
