2. Fenugreek tea – made from Fenugreek seeds
The second natural treatment we tried that worked is Fenugreek tea. Why Fenugreek? According to research these seeds are a primary fungus-removing agent.
When the fungus that is growing on and inside the scalp is removed, the dandruff becomes reduced until it is gone completely!
“In hair care, fenugreek is extensively used as a herbal hair loss treatment as well as a natural hair strengthener. Chemical analysis of fenugreek seeds have revealed a large quantity of proteins which nourish the hair follicle and diminish the chances for hair shedding.”
The protein, along with the nicotinic acid, strengthens the hair root, thus stopping hair loss and stimulating hair growth. Furthermore, the protein is highly effective in treating damaged hair and restoring its natural shine.
Fenugreek contains phosphorus, niacin* and potassium* which nourishes the hair shaft and maintains the hair follicle in good conditions.
Furthermore, it is an important source of lecithin*, which fights against dandruff and scalp conditions, as well as strengthens and moisturizes hair strands.
When applied after washing your hair, it acts as a conditioner by detangling hair strands and making locks shine with health. Fenugreek seeds are also highly beneficial in treating and preventing hair thinning”. – Hairgrowthreview.com
Fenugreek can be used as a paste but it can be very difficult to remove from curly hair and impossible to use while wearing a protective style. I strongly recommend using the tea application to avoid getting seeds stuck in your hair.
The tea is made by adding ½ cup of fenugreek seeds to two cups of boiling water and cover and steep overnight. The next morning use a strainer or a nylon stocking to strain the tea.
Pour the tea into a spray bottle or applicator bottle* and keep refrigerated. The tea can be applied to the scalp and massaged or lightly spray the hair from roots to tips.
The fenugreek has supreme moisturizing abilities! It soothes and moisturizes the scalp and hair instantly. Many find that the scent of fenugreek is bothersome but others like it.
If I were to describe it, it smells like maple syrup. Both of these make an ideal scalp treatment while wearing long term protective styles.
If you have tried other treatments to control dandruff, hair shedding or excessive dryness and found nothing seems to alleviate your scalp issues, consider a natural alternative.
It may be that your scalp is sensitive to the additives in the products you use. Now that spring has arrived and summer is on the horizon, why not begin treating your scalp to ensure you get ultimate growth?
These natural treatments will allow your scalp to heal and while promoting new growth! As always we have to be very clear that we are not medical professionals so our recommendations of natural alternatives should not replce what your doctor is telling you.
We just want you to have options! Have you ever used Aloe Vera or funugreek to soothe your scalp issues? Comment below and share your experience

Aloe vera is a tried and true natural alternative remedy. My horrible scalp condition stopped itching and started healing immediately when I first tried the pure AVJ on my hair. I had no idea it was for scalp issues. I mist on my hair and scalp daily and realized I wasn’t itching, burning, or flaking as, what was then, normal. I can say that I wondered upon it by accident and glad I did. I straightened my hair with a keratin treatment and have noticed even greater results. My once horrific scalp condition is nearly nonexistent. The article mentioned protein being in one of the alternatives and I believe this to be a benefit as well.

This was helpful because I’ve been having scalp issues since going natural almost two years this June. I will try this maybe I can combine both ingredients in a spray bottle. It’s so aggravating when you have cap issues; it makes you second guess your regimen and what your doing. Just horrible. I’m ready to try this and get some relief.
