5. Beer rinse
This one is an oldie but goodie, if you have not tried a beer rinse then girl get your life. Beer thickens the hair strand adds lustre and shine and is just over all one of the best final rinses you can try on your hair.
Beer rinses are so popular it almost felt weird to add it to the list, but we did anyway since if I grabbed a Heineken and took it to my shower along with my purple loofa, I would still get one or two side eyes.
6. Coca Cola
This is probably my least favorite of the bunch mostly it can be used to clean corrosion off car battery and common sense tells me that my strands are way too fine to stand up to that.
The truth behind the coke is that it actually does not act in the same manner as it would if you used it at the mechanic shop.
It contains phosphoric acid which helps the hair cuticles to lay down and makes your curls pop. It can be used to quickly fade hair dye, which again is sort of suspect. I will pass on the Coke, there isn’t enough science in the world that will get me to add that to my bathtub caddy.
7. Ketchup
This one is also no favorite of mine because I cannot get my head around it. But like most life hacks it isn’t meant for understanding it is really a matter of trust and just trying it.
You know that time when you were a kid and you spent all day in the pool and your hair turned slightly green as a result of too much chlorine?
Well ketchup when massaged into the hair can eliminate the green color when left on for at least 15 minutes. This is one of those things that is pretty awesome to know but the bigger lesson is, do not spend all day in the pool!
8. Champagne
I swear we aren’t trying to get you to use everything in your liquor cabinet in your hair but some things are just facts no printer. Champagne can brighten dull highlights, so if you have highlights and you want to brighten them, use some of your best bubbly!
To add to this list are some of the things that we are all sort of used to, things like bananas, oils*, avocados, mayonnaise and a whole host of stuff that when you strip them down to their basic ingredients it isn’t a stretch that they are so awesome for your hair.
Comment below and let us know which of these weird foods you would try the next time you have a hair care dilemma?
