This line gives me a headache when I think about it because I can actually remember it burning in my scalp. Now they have added a ‘Curls’ section to their line, and their main celebrated ingredient is…Argan oil*.
MADE WITH ARGAN OIL* & ARGAN BUTTER FROM MOROCCO
How true is this? Not sure, but they have a Pudding, a custard, a milk masque, and a butter that are all supposed to style, deep treat and moisturize. They claim no sulfates, parabens, mineral oil* or petroleum.
They now have sulfate-free shampoos, conditioners and more stylers than necessary (if you ask me), and if they use the word “exotic” one more time in their ads, I’m going to scream! They are going overboard with the Morroccan theme but hey, whatever works right?

Yeah, I heard relaxers haven’t been selling well these days.I haven’t relaxed in 2 years.
Sabrina Richmond Perkins says
And they are super cheap now too.
Chanberry Small says
I have just purchased some of the curl care products and cannot wait to try them
Sabrina Richmond Perkins says
You must share your results. We wanna know.
Cita Henderson says
Ha, that’s what they get. All those bad chemicals.
sonia duchin says
I can not understand how these relaxing company try to be in every thing, {money }that it is, so let me see Is it true for what they put on the label is it a lie for us to get their product and do not see the result that we are trying to achieve.?
Theresa Loscocco says
I guess now that their sales have plummeted, they need to pretend to care for natural hair. If it doesn’t make money then it doesn’t make sense.
I for one, only purchase from brands that have always been dedicated to the care and promotion of natural black hair.
These products look like wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Sabrina Richmond Perkins says
I agree 1000%!
Davida Braxton says
I stopped using any relaxers. The chemicals where going through my scalp into my bloodstream. I keep my hair in a boy cut and i love my natural curls. Its like i’ve been released from the 2 boxes of relaxers to freedom.
Sabrina Richmond Perkins says
Good for you!
Cora says
I’m sorry, I can’t get mad at the companies who are now making natural hair care products…don’t hate the player, hate the game. They are no more guilt then companies that are producing natural hair care alone. The natural hair community had product junkies and the relaxer community have creamy crackers. There are your drugs, now choose which one you prefer. Relaxer companies have to adapt to their environment in in order to make money. It’s business and we can’t fault them for that.
sonia duchin says
you are so right, try products that work for us and every thing will be okay, ill be trying product before I like the way make my hair feel but the thing is that it do a lot of damage so I stop and what I do I start to look on internet to see what product to use in my hair and I did found one and ho my the price is high and I have go 45 min away to get this product it was well worth it for it make my wash and go was outstanding but thing is I could not keep up with it, for the price, for it really make my hair soft and it make my hair grow then I start to wash plus flat iron
lilly Moore says
Does not mean that you have to purchase them! Be wise with your income as well as your health.
kirlisha brooks says
Although I am a die hard fan for Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus line and Lustra’s Silk Curl Max line I have tried Motions Hydrate My Curls and Define My Curls Gel. I don’t agree with the ingredients they have in them like parables and mineral oil I do like the definition of my curls when I use these products. I only use them on special occasions because of the ingredients and I brought them when the store was having a bogo sale.
kirlisha brooks says
I meant parabens and mineral oil.
TMW says
That is my feeling too Kirlisha, everything with moderation. Sometimes I use shampoos with sulfates when I need a really good and deep scalp cleaning but I don’t do it every time I wash my hair. I think moderation is the key.
TMW says
This is good, it means at least the natural community is being heard. On Mizani, their products help me to decide to go natural almost 3 years ago. They came out with a thermal smooth line and I started stretching my relaxers which led to my transition. I can’t wait to try the Lottabody coconut line.
Jeannine Ditterick says
I use the Just For Me texture softener maybe once or twice a year, that’s all I need.
Sabrina Richmond Perkins says
On yourself?
Jeannine Ditterick says
I’m half black lol
Davida Braxton says
You are correct Theresa Loscocco..sales are really going down. Would you believe that my hair used to be bra length in my back?? It took 2 boxes of relaxers..trying to relax sll that hair with some relaxer mix that got somehow on the wall, i had to put a towel underneath the sink, relaxer on the toilet..girl i tell it was a mess. Then , into the shower stuff all over the place.
After a few years of doing this, i had enough. I hadnt washed my hair on two months. Soooo, i went to the salon and got it cut into a boy cut. Im free, free, free. Now all i need i shea butter with sulfur on my hair. Plus a little rose spray for a little moisture.

You Must Know What you Are putting on your hair and what the potential risk are hair is so unique to the individual. The persons style preference, lifestyle, health and environment plays a big roll in product selection. CHOOSE WISELY !!!! My Motto in My salon is ” Never Sacrifice the health of the Hair and Scalp for a Temporary look, unless you willing to deal with the roller coaster ride to recovery”. That is on every hair choice you make.
Charisse says
Although I’m not interested in many of these new lines coming out…I do appreciate companies “attempting” to cater to us it’s forcing other companies to decrease their prices. Competitive prices.
bianca says
glad i don’t use any of these brands!
Christina says
Wow these same companies were trying to rid us of our nappy tresses, and now they are supporting us and giving us options smh. You are right tsk tsk! I surely don’t use any of these brands. Wow!
Ms. Rosie says
This article had me cracking up. But the information is SO TRUE!

Hey ladies I just wanted to know if anyone has tried any of the cream of nature curls products mentioned? If so, what do you think of them? I was considering trying the butter. I like the smell and the ingredients seemed ok but I may be missing something. Thanks
Margaret Simelton says
I got the cream of nature oil moisturizer w Aragon oil havec my hair dull I have low porosity hair
Mickalynn says
I have tried the Dark and Lovely Au Naturale and it has made it into my regimen. Funny thing, I use both Shea moisture and the Dark and Lovely with banging results. I can vouch for the anti shrinkage line, I have mega shrinkage and Au Naturale helps me see my curl pattern. I currently use the detangler and the curling souflee. I probably won’t buy the souflee again although my bantu knots came out great, it flaked too much for my taste. I am in heaven because the detangle really works, especially when you apply heat and they smell great. One thing, I didn’t pay attention to the ingredients, I don’t know what they use, I really am not overly concerned either. As long as I can detangle my hair and get styling I am a happy nappy…:D

Design Essentials and Mizani have been on the natural band wagon forever, i remember recommending them years ago to lots of naturals….they work really well but they are just too dare….the other product i just don’t trust enough to try on my natural hair.
