5. Purple and bubble gum pink hair
I think I am over the purple, aren’t you? Bubble gum pink was so 2013 and while I think we should keep color trends going there are so many other colors other than purple and pink.
Don’t get me wrong, purple looks great on some women so it really is more about the common factor rather than how it looks. It’s not fun anymore when everybody is doing it.
6. Length obsessions
This trend started to change towards the end of 2014, with a ton of women just deciding to chop off their hair all willy nilly casting length goals to the wind. We are absolutely loving the changes and the sheer freedom to do whatever it is your heart desires to your hair.
7. Transitioning
This is clearly my opinion because some women still prefer to transition even now. I say just go for it and do the big chop if you are ready to go natural.
Transitioning can be easy if you know what you are doing but for those of us who find it difficult the big chop is the best solution.
8. Not deep conditioning*
This is for my seasoned ladies who may have slacked last year with caring for their hair. I saw so many YouTube video confessions where women admitted to not deep conditioning* their hair the way they used to especially last year.
Lets leave that habit right over there in 2014 and lets take better care of our hair this year with more focus on simple regimen practices like deep conditioning.
9.Worrying about what other people think of your hair
This habit needs to die now, if you like to wear your hair straight then by all means do that. If you want to cut your hair, grow it out, wear a weave, go ahead and do that.
We are so past the point of worrying what every one thinks about how we like to wear our hair, the only thing that matters it what you think about your own hair.
10. Relaxers
Listen, I have been relaxer free for five years, and while someone might be quick to say, hey good for you but I like my relaxer, we believe that if you want to see growth and progression with your hair you have to stop relaxing your hair.
Can relaxed hair be healthy? The answer is yes but even with that answer it is always premised with additional things like, relax less often, stretch as much as possible, use mild relaxers, with advice of caution.
If you decide to stop relaxing but prefer to wear your hair straight, you can still do that without the use of any chemicals at all.
Well those are my top ten trends and practices we should leave behind in 2014. Are there any trends or hair practices you want to see left behind? Comment below!

Now I agree with 8 & 9 but the rest of them….. Come on now! Those are such unique and beautiful trends. I enjoy the shaved side because the different designs and uniqueness with each individual person. Clearly this whole post is opinion based and going back to number 9 I believe…..why do you care what other people do with their hair? You don’t have to wear any of these trends but still it’s their hair. To each its own.
