In 2014 when YouTuber Dephne Madyara put out her video which credited prayer as the biggest part of growing her hair out to 20 inches in just three years, I can remember many had disparaging remarks. She is not the only YouTuber who swears by this either as CrownofHisGlory did a similar video in 2009.
On some level I get that people are quick to knock what they don’t understand; what they classify as weird, or the makings of some cockamamie mumbo-jumbo by people who they believe have lost a few screws. If someone says praying for long hair works for them and you haven’t tried it, why spit venom?
There are many who sing the praises of yoga. Today millions of people practice yoga because it is said that it helps with stress alleviation and helps keep a body fit, but there are also those who will say yoga aligns the energies of the body with the energies of the universe so much so that it can cure illnesses.
It is even recommended by some doctors as a regular means of exercise. So why is it so hard to believe that simple prayer can work?
Have you ever heard of “The Secret Law of Attraction“? It is all the rave these days. I’m talking books, movie deals, television appearances to learn how to have everything you want happen simply by wishing it. So if people can put confidence in something like ‘wishing with all your might’, positive thinking, why is it inconceivable that uttering a prayer can produce long hair?
Sure I digressed there a bit but what I’m getting at is that many will go to great lengths and try almost anything to get what they want. Many in search of beauty secrets will try hot pepper, chicken poop, bull sperm and don’t even get me started on some of the things some in the hair community get up to for some long hair. So why not prayer?
Which brings me back to the point I want to make. The fact that one esteems prayer as the silent weapon in their haircare arsenal it doesn’t make them loony. If such is the case it would probably be the same for those who put their confidence in yoga.
Those of us who stand by prayer as a viable hair growth aid just choose to exercise our faith in a being that is greater than ourselves. Some may say that it is an exercise in stupidity but for those of us who have been there and done it, all we can say is the proof is in the pudding and you shouldn’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
Before anyone misunderstands I will hasten to say that many of us are conscious enough to still have regimens we follow along with our prayers, for we while we believe in the power of prayer, we also believe we should be good stewards and take care of what we are given.
But it has also been my personal experience that even while practicing bad hair grooming habits, with prayer hair can grow rapidly (still, stick to the good hair practices).
I conclude that faith is the key in such matters and they have a saying that belief kills and belief cures, so what is the measure of your faith?
Have you tried prayer as a hair growth aid? What were the results like? Do you think praying for long hair bears any merit? Let us know in the comments below.

I’m going to pray that you get an understanding of what prayer really means and I also will pray that nothing bad ever happens to you or someone you love. If you don’t believe prayer changes things, just get breast cancer like I did and see what the power of prayer can do.

To me, praying for hair is shallow…. I won’t be participating . There are more important things in the world to focus on and pray about that actually matter. For me , long hair isn’t one of them…

my pastor preached about us having a great measure of faith and we can pray about anything to him because he loves us so much that he will step down and bless with what we ask for if we practice our faith and continue praying. My pastor went on to use an example and said that it’s like a child who complains about breaking a crayon and even though it may not be a big thing but is a big thing in your child’s mind so you buy new crayons. i’m starting to pray about my hair because I really do believe it floats and I feel like anything you asked God for God loves us so much that you’ll granted to us as long as we show Faith. i’m starting to pray about my hair because I really do believe it works because he loves us so much that he will grant anything to us as long as you show great faith for it.
