I was having a casual conversation with my best friend and she was telling me how her guy friend said someone was trying to set him up. My immediate reaction was, “oh cute!”, because of the fact we all went to the same university so I was familiar with everyone. However, what she said next was what threw me for a loop.
She told me he said he wasn’t interested because she just cut her hair off via a big chop. I looked at the most recent pic of her and she had a tapered style twa so it was shaped and cute. The girl has also been natural since we were in college and had a full fro that even I was once envious of just a few months ago, so I guess she just wanted a change and decided to chop again. Nothing is wrong with a switch up!
I feel like over a period of time a couple of years ago when it seemed like a ton of girls were big chopping it somewhat shocked men and I heard often that they just didn’t like the short look. I thought by now it would somewhat have faded due to the number of naturals out there now; TWAs would just be accepted as part of the norm.
When I ran the conversation by another guy friend he responded in a similar way as the other male, saying that guys just prefer longer hair. “If a girl chooses the natural route, larger fros are just more attractive.” Wait, seriously?
I guess guys like what they like but I think TWAs are beautiful! If a woman is styling it and giving it shape instead walking out without doing anything to it.
Do you think we’ll ever get to a point where guys will give the same attention to a girl who big chopped as they would to someone who didn’t? Let me know in the comments below.

There are many guys that don’t care that a woman has short hair. If she owns her beauty he would have no choice but to acknowledge it. If his preference is that his woman have longer hair whats wrong with that? We as women have our own particular foibles about what we want in men. Its not that serious.

Maybe it’s not about big chopped head but only if your face can take it, short hair, long hair isn’t for every female

Who cares ? Some men prefer longer hair and other men like shorter. I big chopped two years ago and my family and friends didnt like. Now two years later I have a bigger curly afro and now they love it.

Kinda shallow aren’t they? She rocks in every other way imaginable, but her hair doesn’t cut it (no pun intended) so he’s outta there? I could go on but this nonsense is giving me a headache. P. S. She can shave her head as far as I’m concerned. It’ll grow back to the floor if that’s her wish.
