I agree with Necole B wholeheartedly when she says that its good to celebrate women in a real positive way sometimes. We are so bombarded by stories on Reality TV and the general media showing women in the lamest positions, fighting, bickering, sex tapes and putting each other down. This is mainstream media of 2014 and we need breaks from the negativity replacing that with encouragement, empowerment and upliftment.
On Wednesday evening there was one such event, it was hosted by Essence Magazine in New York City and it was two fold. If you haven’t heard Essence magazine has decided to launch a hair channel on YouTube, and they also wanted to celebrate Ledisi and Erykah Badu their May 2014 cover girls.
We loved the mix of women that attended along with the honorees, Ciprianna Quann of Urbanbushbabes, blogger and Author Demetria Lucas, celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephen, Actress Danielle Brooks, blogger Necole B and many more gorgeous women
The topic of discussion over the 3 course meal was very light but so important for us to to hear, it was about that journey to beautiful, how beauty is defined from each woman’s personal standpoint and how to choose to be happy.
